Filing a Grievance

The Virgin Islands Bar Association lawyers are bound by strict rules in all of their professional dealings. The Board of Governors of the VIBA has adopted a new Grievance Form to expedite the filling of complaints against an attorney.  Members of the public who believes that a VIBA lawyer has violated the rules of ethics should notify the Virgin Islands Bar by following these steps below. 


A Grievance against a lawyer must be in writing and signed by the individual who is filing it.  Requirements of a Grievance is as follows:

1.  Provide the name and mailing address, and telephone number of the Grievant.
2.  Identify the Respondent by name.
3. State at least in general terms the nature of the grievance or the offending conduct.
4. State the nature of the relationship between the Grievant and the Respondent.

Please note that your complaint must be signed and dated.
