2016 Appellate Moot Court Competition Information

The Appellate Moot Court Committee is excited about the upcoming 22nd Annual Appellate Moot Court Competition. The Competition is scheduled to take place from May 31-June 2, 2016.  The First Round will be held on St. Thomas on May 31 and on St. Croix on June 1. The final round will be held on St. Croix on June 2. The schedule of activities will be distributed closer to the competition date. All V.I. Bar Association members are invited to attend.

This year the students have been presented with a challenging hypothetical case involving a legal action for declaratory relief brought by Virgin Islanders asserting that the right to marry is a fundamental right inherent in the liberty of the person and applicable to Virgin Islanders under the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

The schools are in need of additional Attorney coaches to help the students prepare for the upcoming competition. If you are willing to volunteer, please contact the Committee Chair, Ernest Morris, Esq., directly at
